Review: Revlon Colourstay Aqua Mineral

On my 2nd day of arriving in Hong Kong, I ran out of foundation. While roaming the Mannings (drugstore) for a new colourstay, I came across this little product which has just recently launched.

You guys know how much I love the colourstay foundation by now, it was no surprise that this product caught my eye, colourstay in mineral form? yes please. It cost around $135 HK dollars? not too sure but it is around that mark.

The powder has a screw top, a sieve for the product to surface and a brush which slides out of the lid, it is reasonably soft as often brush's that come with products feel like hay.

As you open the lid, the powder has noticable sparkles in it, If your not a big fan of shimmer or 'glow' then this is not for you. Despite this I gave it a try, I loaded up my brush, tapped off the excess and applied it to my face.

Ok maybe, a picture would of been a good idea BUT once I applied it, it was dry and cakey, I really didn't want to show my face! The idea behind this is that once your applying it, it actually feels wet, the brush feels wet, the powder feels hydrating yet the finish is flakey!

I gave it another go today, maybe my face was dry? dehydrated? I didn't moisturize properly? but no, results are still the same.

I personally did not like this product, the concept sounds amazing but unfortunately it did not work for me...

Have you tried this product? did it work for you?

  1. Thanks for the heads up! Definitely not going to try it now!

  2. wow that does sound like a cool product, too bad it didn't work out too well :/ Thank you for your review! :)

  3. I have the same skin type as yours so maybe this is a no no for me. I've never try drugstore foundation before so I'm a bit scared....

  4. Strangely enough, I wanted to like the normal ColorStay but it made my face look disgusting :(
    Definitely wont try this either!

  5. I was so excited for this to come out at the drugstores because the idea seems so unique. But I read and heard a bunch of negative reviews on how the shimmers are too obvious and the coverage is very light. SO I don't think I'll be purchasing this either :(

  6. thanks for the head up! im glad i didnt get this foundation as my face is dry and it will look super cakey on me

  7. thanks for this review =)

  8. I was debating whether to pick it up yesterday or not. Glad I didn't =) thanks for the heads up.

  9. I was about to try it as I love the colorstay liquid foundation. Too bad it's that dry. it should go on a lot better since hong kong is a lot more humid.. uh how disappointing! thanks for the review tho! and have fun in hong kong :P

  10. that doesn't sounds good...
